Turbine Fire Contained And Under Investigation At Kent Hills Wind Farm In New Brunswick

Calgary, Alberta-based TransAlta Corp. is reporting that at approximately at 8 a.m. on Aug. 8, a fire occurred at a single wind turbine located at its Kent Hills wind farm in New Brunswick. TransAlta and local fire officials responded and have contained the situation. Investigation into the cause of the fire is under way with the turbine supplier Vestas.

There are no injuries to report, and there are no residents in the immediate vicinity. TransAlta is restricting access to the area to ensure no one is at risk. The company's primary concerns are to maintain safety and minimize environmental impact.

The remaining 31 turbines at the 96 MW Kent Hills facility are operational, and TransAlta continues to provide power.
