Nordex has signed a multiyear supply agreement with TPI Composites to supply blades for the N117/2400 turbine model. Nordex intends to use these blades for projects in Turkey as well as for export to other locations in the greater European region, northern Africa and the Middle East.
TPI will manufacture the NR-58.5 rotor blade at its Turkish plant in Izmir, with series production to commence as early as February 2014. In order to ensure the high-quality standards, Nordex says representatives from both companies will work together to set up production.
Nordex says that TPI will also supply rotor blades for its N117/3000 turbine model.
TPI operates the Izmir plant in a joint venture with ALKE INSAAT, an engineering, manufacturing and construction company headquartered in Istanbul, Turkey. With an area of around 33,000 square meters, Nordex says the site is ideally located for the transportation of heavy-duty components on road and by water.
