Scottsdale, Ariz.-based TPI Composites Inc., a global supplier of wind turbine blades, has signed a multiyear supply agreement with Vestas Wind Systems A/S to provide blades for the V126 wind turbine from TPI's recently announced factory in Izmir, Turkey.
The factory is scheduled to open for production later this year. Located on 10 hectares (approximately 25 acres), the site will initially be 30,000 square meters and will be able to accommodate future expansion.
TPI says it has produced wind blades in Turkey since 2012 and is currently doing so for GE and Nordex.
‘A year ago, we announced our first supply agreement with Vestas for blade production in China," states Steve Lockard, president and CEO of TPI Composites. "We are excited that Vestas has chosen to expand its business relationship with TPI and outsource blade production in the [Europe, Middle East and Africa] region with TPI."
