Scottsdale, Ariz.-based TPI Composites Inc. has announced plans to open a second turbine blade manufacturing facility in Juarez, Mexico, as well as expanded its agreement with Gamesa.

Under the long-term agreement, TPI Composites will continue to supply Gamesa with wind blades from its existing Juarez manufacturing facility and begin to supply blades from the second plant, which is expected to open in the second half the year.

TPI’s manufacturing capacity in Juarez will be used to supply Gamesa projects in Latin America and the U.S.

TPI has been operating in Mexico since 2002 and has been building wind blades for Gamesa since 2014. The new facility will consist of a 360,000-square-foot building on a 62-acre site. The company says it may expand the location’s production capacity to serve multiple customers in the future.
