Town Orders That Wind Turbines Be Shut Down Every Night

0

The Fairhaven, Mass., Board of Health unanimously ordered on Monday that two wind turbines in town be turned off every night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. until more tests are conducted.

According to SouthCoastToday.com, the board took up the vote at a joint meeting after receiving over 400 complaints about the turbines' noise, with some residents claiming they were losing sleep and suffering from related headaches.

In addition, the board claimed developer Fairhaven Wind LLC had violated both state laws and a contract with the town dictating that the turbines not surpass a certain noise threshold. The SouthCoastToday.com report notes a Fairhaven Wind representative said the developer will ‘continue to work closely with the town" to settle the issue and avoid legal problems.
