Suzlon has introduced S88 Boost, an active power rating increase product for its existing fleet of S88 2.1 MW wind turbines.
According to the company, it has been able to analyze equipment performance and introduce specialized controller software that will allow an increase in rated power from 2.1 MW to 2.25 MW.
Suzlon says application of the new S88 Boost technology requires evaluation of the local site conditions to ensure maximum lifetime of the wind turbines is maintained. The company notes it has been testing the S88 Boost since February 2013 in the U.S. and has qualified the functionality through continuous in-field operation over the last 16 months.
