Suzlon has launched a new wind turbine designed for low-wind-speed sites, as well as released a new version of another one of its turbines.
The new S111-2.1 MW features a rotor diameter of 111 meters and a swept area of more than 9,500 square meters. According to John O'Halloran, Suzlon's president of technology, the turbine was designed based on customer feedback.
The first S111 prototype is scheduled to be operational in late 2013, and serial production will begin in 2014, Suzlon says.
The company also introduced a new version of its IEC Class II S95-2.1 MW turbine, which was first introduced last year. According to Suzlon, the latest version of the turbine features an improved power curve and is designed for medium-wind sites.
