Southwest Windpower Unveils Skystream 600 Wind Turbine

0

Southwest Windpower has introduced the Skystream 600 wind turbine at the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with the backing of GE.

Skystream 600 produces 74% more energy for commercial and residential use than its predecessor and provides an average of 7,400 kWh of energy per year, according to the company.

The Skystream 600, which is scheduled for release in March, will be fully smart grid-enabled. The turbine's interactive Skyview system allows users to monitor how much energy the wind turbine is producing via the Internet.

Skystream 600 is part of GE's ‘home of the future’ exhibit at the CES. GE invested in Southwest Windpower in 2009 through its energy investing arm, GE Energy Financial Services.
