Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured an order for Southern Power’s 198.5 MW Reading Wind project in Kansas.
SGRE will supply 48 SG 3.4-132 and 14 SWT-2.3-108 turbines for the wind facility, located in Lyon and Osage counties. Royal Caribbean Cruises recently signed a 12-year agreement with Southern Power for the project.
SGRE will also provide a 20-year service and maintenance program, which includes advanced diagnostics and digital capabilities tailored to increase performance and operation predictably.
In total, SGRE has provided turbines for more than 150 U.S. project sites with an output capacity of more than 18 GW. In Kansas, the company currently has 484 wind turbines installed across nine projects, totaling over 1 GW. Southern Power has previously partnered with Siemens Gamesa on four other wind projects totaling more than 300 turbines.
