Shuttlelift Debuts New Folding-Crane Concept

0

Shuttlelift is unveiling the SL100II LDG, a new folding-crane concept in the final stages of development and set to be available on gantry cranes with 100-ton carrying capacities.

The company says a common situation on many wind farm construction sites is that a gantry's progress can be hampered by overhead power cables. The new technology enables operators to reduce the overall height of the crane by removing the retaining pins on each leg, thus folding down the top beams. In turn, the gantry is able to pass under existing overhead obstacles that may have impeded the crane's movement through the erection site.

Once the top beams have been folded down, the overall height is reduced from a typical 33 feet to a profile of just under 16 feet, the company says.
