Shaughnessy Makes Renewable Energy Commitments

St. Louis-based Shaughnessy Kniep Hawe, a distribution company that markets printing papers, business communication papers and graphic supplies to commercial printers, corporations, publishing companies and government agencies, has announced it is reducing its carbon emissions by offsetting a significant portion of its electricity use through the purchase of 1,036,680 kWh hours of renewable energy credits (RECs). In addition, Shaughnessy has also purchased carbon offsets for the emissions generated from its delivery fleet of 16 trucks. The offsets were purchases from Boulder, Colo.-based Renewable Choice Energy.

‘We believe that making environmentally responsible corporate decisions is both good for our business and our planet and is a reflection of the culture of our company,’ says Ed Kniep IV, president and chief operating officer of Shaughnessy Kniep Hawe. ‘By supporting renewable energy and carbon mitigation projects, we are balancing our carbon footprint and leading by example.’
