Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories' (SEL) fault indicator and sensor division has developed a new faulted-circuit indicator called the Three-Phase Voltage Reset Device (3VR) to help wind farm operators more quickly identify faults in their systems.
SEL says it designed the 3VR to work with the new cold-shrink termination elbow manufactured by 3M and also to fit other manufacturers' elbows that do not have a T-body capacitive test point.
Voltage-powered from the basic insulating plug (BIP), this new fault indicator requires no batteries. The 3VR automatically resets on BIP voltage restorations and operates independently of load current.
SEL adds that the 3VR comes with several different display options and can also be equipped with an auxiliary contact option for SCADA compatibility.
