Renewable Funding Announces Addition Of Illinois Environmental Policy Leader

Steve Frenkel, chief policy advisor to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has joined Renewable Funding LLC as its director of the Midwest region.

Frenkel is filling a newly created role within Renewable Funding, which designs, finances and administers property assessed clean energy (PACE) programs. He will work with state and local governments, businesses and other entities throughout the Midwest to establish PACE programs tailored to the needs and priorities of the region.

As chief policy advisor at Illinois EPA, Frenkel helped develop a regional greenhouse gas reduction program for the Midwest. As deputy chief of staff in the Illinois State Governor's Office, he directed the state's energy, environmental and economic development policy. While there, he also initiated the state of Illinois' membership in the Chicago Climate Exchange and the purchase of renewable energy to supply state facilities with 100% wind power.
