Denver-based Redstone College has selected Derek Santiago as program chair for the school's new wind energy technology (WIND) wind turbine training program. Santiago joins Redstone with a diverse wind industry background, which includes field and leadership positions at GE, Suzlon, Nordic Wind Power and BIS Wind Power.
As Redstone College's WIND program chair, Santiago will manage the ongoing development of the WIND program to ensure the curriculum exceeds industry standards and serve as the primary contact for all WIND students, according to the college.
Prior to joining Redstone College, Santiago most recently held the lead service technician role at BIS Wind Power. His primary responsibilities included working with a team to maintain approximately 48 Vestas Wind Systems turbines across the U.S.
Santiago holds a business administration degree from Florida Community College and served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Enterprise, where he was as an electrician's mate before being promoted to training petty officer and later to assistant shop supervisor.
