Quebec-based Boralex Inc., a developer, builder and operator of renewable energy facilities in Canada, France and the U.S., has named a new chairman of the board, Alain Rheaume.
Rheaume succeeds Robert F. Hall, who has resigned as director and chairman of the board for personal reasons. Hall had been a director of Boralex since May 2012 and chaired the board from May 2013.
Rheaume has been a director of the corporation since 2010. He has served and continues to serve on the boards of directors of a number of public companies and has significant corporate governance experience, says Boralex. Specifically, he has held management positions at Microcell Telecommunications Inc. and Rogers Wireless Inc. Rheaume also served as associate deputy minister with the Ministere des Finances du Quebec from 1988 to 1992 and deputy minister from 1992 to 1996.
“We’re pleased to welcome Alain Rheaume to his new role. His board experience, his leadership and his knowledge will contribute to ensuring continuity in corporate strategy and meeting our objectives,” says Patrick Lemaire, president and CEO of Boralex. “On behalf of all directors and officers, I’d like to thank Robert F. Hall. His professional and rigorous approach has helped the corporation thrive over the past few years, for which we are grateful. We wish him the best in his future plans.”
