UpWind Solutions Inc., an independent services provider for the North American wind industry, and Suspendem Inc., a turbine operations and maintenance services company in Canada, recently entered into a strategic relationship in which Suspendem will provide UpWind's vortex generator (VG) solution to the Canadian wind market.
UpWind partnered with SMART BLADE and 3M to deliver the VG solution for turbine rotor blades. With SMART BLADE, UpWind developed a proprietary installation process customized to each turbine blade type. It uses precise installation lines and repeatable installation procedures, along with 3M's strong adhesive that can last the life of the turbine.
According to UpWind, the VG solution has increased annual energy production 1%-3% for more than 10 turbine technologies.
With guidance and training from UpWind, the strategic alliance will allow Suspendem to use this custom installation process and provide the VG solution to both parties' customers in Canada.
