Canby, Minn.-based Outland Renewable Energy has achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008 certification, becoming the first U.S.-based wind energy operations and maintenance company to do so. Founded in 2005, Outland has more than 100 wind turbine technicians who commission, operate and maintain wind farms across the U.S. The company has more than 600 MW of wind turbines under long-term contracts.
‘Minnesota is among the nation's top states in the production of wind energy, and companies like Outland will ensure that we continue to play a leading role in this growing industry,’ says Gov. Tim Pawlenty, R-Minn.
ISO 9001:2008 is a globally accepted, quality management standard codified by the ISO, a publisher of standards based in Geneva. To achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification, Outland had to demonstrate to an accredited independent auditor that it tracks and continuously improves the quality of services it provides to wind turbine owners.
