All systems are a go for Suzlon's S111 wind turbine, which recently produced its first kilowatt-hour at its test site near Channing, Texas.
The event marked something of a milestone for the turbine manufacturer. According to Suzlon, the S111 – for the first time – produced power at 60 Hz, which is required for interconnection in North America. The company says an S111 turbine was commissioned in December in India, where the grid requires interconnection at 50 Hz.
Suzlon says it will continue to test various aspects of the new S111 over the coming months.Â
‘We are confident that the S111 will perform better than projected, and we welcome our customers to come visit our test site,’ says Duncan Koerbel, CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy Corp.
