Forum Equity Partners – a privately owned alternative investment management and development firm based in Toronto, Ontario – has named Nikolas Novograd principal for energy and renewables.
To be based in San Francisco, Novograd will focus on new investment opportunities, thus continuing the firm’s focus on the renewable energy industry in North America. Forum recently invested in United Wind, which provides distributed wind solutions in the U.S.
The firm says Novograd, who began his career as a project finance banker, has held senior executive positions within the energy investment industry. Most recently, he was vice president of origination at Renewable Energy Trust Capital Inc. (RETC). Before joining RETC, he was a director in Wells Fargo’s renewable energy and environmental finance group, where he originated and structured tax equity investments in wind and solar projects.
Prior to Wells Fargo, he was head of finance at NextLight Renewable Power LLC, a solar power developer backed by Energy Capital Partners, which was sold to First Solar Inc., where he was vice president.
