NRG Yield Inc. says its chairman, president and CEO, David Crane, has stepped down and has been replaced in the interim by Mauricio Gutierrez, who currently serves as a director and the chief operating officer (COO) of the company.
NRG Yield owns a diversified portfolio of contracted renewable and conventional generation and thermal infrastructure assets in the U.S., including fossil fuel, solar and wind power generation facilities.
Effective immediately, Gutierrez will be interim president and CEO while the board of directors evaluates the optimal replacement for the position.
Gutierrez has served as COO of NRG Yield since the initial public offering (IPO) in July 2013. He was recently named president and CEO of NRG Energy, where he previously served as COO since July 2010 and in various roles since August 2004.
John Chlebowski will assume the role of chairman of the board during the evaluation process. He has served as lead independent director of NRG Yield since the IPO and previously served on the board of directors of NRG Energy since its emergence from bankruptcy in 2003. During his tenure at NRG Energy, he served on numerous committees of the board and chaired both the audit and compensation committees.
