Nordic Wind, Mita-Teknik Retrofitting Minnesota Project With New Tech

0

Nordic Wind Technology has signed an agreement to retrofit 13 Suzlon S64 1.25 MW turbines with its software at an undisclosed Minnesota wind project. The retrofit also includes a controller upgrade from Mita-Teknik for six turbines.

The solution will be installed during the coming months, providing a completely new control environment for the Suzlon S64 turbines, according to the technology partners.

With the installation of a sixth-generation surveillance system, MiScout 5, the project owners will get a SCADA solution that provides full monitoring of all available data in order to reduce maintenance costs, optimize operations and increase profit.

“At the wind farm in Minnesota, we are replacing our discontinued WP3000 control systems with our new modern controller,” explains Claus Vilsen, leading technical project manager at Mita-Teknik. “We provide a proven retrofit solution and can guarantee safe and easy upgrades to regain maximum performance from the turbines.

Ib Runge Hansen, CEO of Nordic Wind Technology, adds, “Retrofitting Suzlon S64 and S88 turbines with up-to-date software solutions is a much-needed improvement for the wind turbine owners, as the current turbines are running on outdated software. This is preventing production efficiency, data availability and cost reductions, and it reduces the lifetime of the turbines. We are very excited about our new partnership with the skilled team at Mita-Teknik and look forward to developing the Suzlon S64 retrofit market together.”
