Nordex Wins Its Biggest Single Wind Contract To Date

In the second quarter of 2018, the Nordex Group won a 595 MW order in Brazil, representing the company’s largest single contract to date.

Nordex will supply and install turbines for the Lagoa dos Ventos wind farm for Enel Green Power, which will own and operate the facility. Nordex has previously worked with Enel in several different markets.

Each with a capacity of 3.15 MW or 3.0 MW, the 191 AW125 turbines will be mounted on 120-meter concrete towers, which Nordex will produce locally at its own plant in Brazil to lower costs and minimize the environmental footprint.

The wind farm is situated in the state of Piaui in the north of Brazil, which is characterized by favorable wind conditions, notes Nordex. Roughly one year ago, Nordex was awarded another contract for 65 turbines from the same series for another wind farm in the same province.

Nordex expects to begin installing the turbines in October 2019 and provide service for at least two years. Including this project, the company’s total wind capacity installed and under construction in Brazil will total 1.9 GW.
