Nordex Unveiling New 64.4-Meter Turbine Rotor Blade

Nordex SE has announced it will present a new 64.4-meter rotor blade at the WindEnergy Hamburg expo, which will be held in Germany from Sept. 23 to 26.

The company says the product is one of the largest rotor blades for onshore turbines and will be used on Nordex's new N131/3000 Generation Delta low-wind machine. With a nominal output of 3 MW, the N131/3000 turbine's capacity is 25% greater than its predecessor's, and Nordex says the design optimization of the rotor blade allows the turbine's sound power level to be reduced to 104.5 dB.

Thanks to a second-generation rotor blade adapter by the TII group, Nordex says the large-dimensioned N131/3000 rotor blades can be transported along narrow curves and past obstacles. The N131/3000 turbine is slated to be installed for the first time in the fourth quarter of this year, and serial delivery of the system will start in 2015.
