New Mexico RETA Holds First Meeting

0

New Mexico's Renewable Energy Transmission Authority (RETA) recently held its first meeting to discuss how to legally organize and move forward as an entity. In addition to forming committees for human resources, bylaws and legal structure, and budget and finance, RETA says it authorized the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department to provide interim administrative support to RETA.

Under the March 2007 Renewable Energy Transmission Authority Act, RETA's mandate is to plan, finance, build and operate new electricity transmission lines for power that draws at least 30% of its energy from renewable sources. It also has the ability to develop energy storage projects, such as compressed-air storage for wind power.

RETA will meet again on Oct. 10 in Santa Fe, N.M.
