Yarmouth, Maine-headquartered geographic information system GIS company DeLorme, has released the XMap 5.2 GIS Enterprise Suite, which provides new GPS features that deliver aerial imagery, topographic maps and GIS layers for remote navigation and field data collection.
This latest XMap release supports the Earthmate GPS PN-20 color-screen receiver. The PN-20 delivers a unique array of data layering and display features, says DeLorme.
Users can download high-resolution aerial imagery from DeLorme to their desktop or laptop PC, the company explains, or import raster files in MrSID or GeoTIFF
formats. The MrSID and GeoTIFF files are fully registered to the underlying map data, and both the DeLorme imagery and imported raster files can be transferred to the Earthmate GPS PN-20 color-screen receiver.
Other key features include geospatial querying, buffering tools, bulk geo-data import, coordinate geometry input and command line bulk import tools for advanced GIS users. XMap 5.2 is Microsoft Windows Vista-compatible and supports the most common GIS data formats, DeLorme adds.
