The North American Electric Reliability Corporation's (NERC) Transmission Owners and Operators Forum has selected Donald M. Benjamin as its vice president.
Benjamin will be the forum's first full-time staff member after serving almost 25 years as the secretary of NERC's Operating Committee. NERC established the forum in November 2006 to encourage transmission owners and operators to develop superior practices, share lessons learned from transmission system disturbances, collect metrics on transmission equipment performance and conduct peer reviews in a closed setting.
‘The forum complements NERC's primary mission of ensuring the bulk power system in North America is reliable,’ notes Rick Sergel, NERC's president and CEO. ‘Don will provide an important link between NERC and the forum.’
The Transmission Owners and Operators Forum is open to any member of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation that owns, operates or controls at least 200 circuit-miles of integrated transmission facilities at 100 kV or above, or has an open access transmission tariff or equivalent on file with a regulatory authority.
