Mitsubishi Electric Develops Static Synchronous Compensator

Mitsubishi Electric Corp. has developed a static synchronous compensator, SVC-Diamond, that helps strengthen power networks during renewable energy integration.

Mitsubishi Electric notes that because renewable energy is derived from natural resources, a grid may encounter challenges during integration, such as voltage variation and voltage transmission stability.

According to the company, the product deploys the most effective method for responding to such issues. Further, Mitsubishi Electric says it will perform the precise system studies matched to user needs to provide optimum solutions and maximum quality based on real-time simulations.

Other product attributes include less space required for installation, a reduction in harmonic contents, and rapid responses to sudden voltage variation, the company notes.

Mitsubishi Electric expects to launch the product in 2016.
