Mexican Wind Farm Will Provide Power To California

The California Public Utilities Commission has approved a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) to buy the power from a wind farm being developed by Energia Sierra Juarez U.S. LLC.

The wind project, which is being developed in Jacume, Baja California, Mexico, will have a capacity of between 100 MW and 156 MW, and is expected to achieve commercial operation in the fourth quarter of 2013.

The PPA is the result of SDG&E's 2009 renewable portfolio standard solicitation.
