The California Independent System Operator (CalISO) has appointed Laura Manz as vice president of CalISO's new Market and Infrastructure Development Division.
As part of its five-year strategic plan, CalISO combined two separate divisions that focused on market development and infrastructure planning to form the Market and Infrastructure Development Division.
CalISO says it selected Manz for her intimate knowledge of power-system planning, engineering, and market development and operations. She comes from San Diego Gas & Electric, where she served as director of Federal Energy Regulatory Committee and CalISO regulatory affairs.
Manz began her electricity career at Public Service Enterprise Group in Newark, N.J., with responsibilities in transmission planning, market design, regional integration, retail restructuring, maintenance standards, power purchasing, emergency response, and power plant and system operations.
