Jersey City, N.J.-based Datapipe, a provider of managed hosting and IT services, has expanded its green initiatives. Through a strategic relationship with Constellation NewEnergy, Datapipe's Somerset One data center will now run on 100% renewable electricity. Datapipe will utilize Green-e Energy certified renewable energy certificates through Constellation NewEnergy's NewMix wind energy solution to match electricity consumption at its data center.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that data centers account for 1.5% of the nation's electricity consumption. As the demand for digital resources continues to rise, the EPA estimates that this figure will increase by 12% annually.
Datapipe's global facilities feature numerous green initiatives, including corporate recycling programs and alternative energy.
