Tan is an experienced finance attorney who has handled hundreds of U.S. and cross-border, energy-related acquisitions and financing transactions covering multiple jurisdictions from the U.S. to Australia. She advises equity investors, lenders and sponsors on the development, financing, sale and acquisition of conventional and renewable power generation projects, including wind and solar. Her finance background includes capital markets debt offerings; equity investments; leveraged leases; and asset-backed, tax-equity and structured finance transactions.
Tan has received nationwide recognition for her finance, merger and acquisition, and project development work and was recently selected for the 2015 National Law Journal's 50 ‘Energy & Environmental Trailblazers’ list. She was instrumental in designing the financing, structuring and drafting of the Maryland Public Service Commission's first-of-its-kind regulations to implement a long-term financing program for offshore wind generation facilities to be located off the coast of Maryland.
In addition to renewable energy, Tan has significant experience advising on the acquisition and financing of a variety of assets, including gas collection and distribution systems, cogeneration facilities, combined-cycle gas turbine power plants, airport security systems, telecommunications assets, aircraft, railcars and rail infrastructure. Her experience includes serving as U.S. general counsel to one of the largest wind project development companies in Brazil.
