Henrik Kuffner has been appointed the first CEO of the newly created WindMade organization. He will lead the creation of a global consumer label for companies and products using wind power.
Kuffner most recently served as director general of the International Wool Textile Organization. He closely cooperated with The Woolmark Co., a worldwide marketing arm of the wool sector and owner of the Woolmark consumer label.
First initiated by Vestas, WindMade was founded by international organizations involved in wind power, environmental conservation, certification and consumer products. The founding members include the Global Wind Energy Council, the World Wildlife Fund, Bloomberg, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the United Nations Global Compact and the LEGO Group.
A technical committee has developed the first technical standard, which specifies the requirements for companies to qualify for the WindMade label.Â
This proposed standard will be presented to the public for consultation at a media briefing in New York City on June 15 – Global Wind Day – at an event hosted by the American Wind Energy Association and the Wind Energy Foundation.
