Kaiser Permanente To Buy Output From NextEra’s Golden Hills

Health care services conglomerate Kaiser Permanente has agreed to buy 43 MW of output from the planned Golden Hills wind farm, located in California's Altamont Pass region.

According to Kaiser Permanente, NextEra Energy Resources plans to replace less efficient wind turbines on the wind farm – one of the oldest and largest concentrations of wind farms in the U.S. – with new, more efficient equipment. Construction at the wind farms is expected to continue over the next two years, with Kaiser Permanente starting to use power from the plant in 2016.

The power purchase agreement marks the second major corporation that has agreed to buy power from Golden Hills. On Feb. 11, Google agreed to purchase 43 MW from the facility.
