Iowa Lakes Expands Wind Energy Program

0

The board of trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College has decided to secure more classroom space for wind energy students.

While the college was originally considering a blade repair facility, a more imminent need became apparent when the college added more industry training sessions and accepted additional students into the wind energy and turbine technology program.

The trustees asked Delaine Hiney, executive director of facilities management, to work with an architectural company to design a proposed classroom and lab addition of just over 7,000 square feet with an estimated cost of $1.25 million. Specifications are expected in November or December, with construction planned for spring 2009.
