The Interwest Energy Alliance (IEA), in conjunction with Xcel Energy and other parties, has reached a settlement agreement that invigorates the SB 100 transmission development implementation process by setting a timetable that Xcel will follow in conducting new stakeholder-driven transmission study groups. The agreement, according to IEA, will culminate in the filing of new certificate of public convenience and necessity applications for transmission.
IEA says that Xcel has indicated its willingness to use SB 91 Task Force maps to guide its future work in this effort. The task force report found eight specific generation development areas (GDAs) in Colorado with a combined 96 GW of wind capacity and two GDAs with a combined 26 GW solar capacity.
