Spanish utility company Iberdrola has announced that it will invest $8 billion in the U.S. renewable energy market during the period of 2008-2010.
According to Ignacio Galan, president of Iberdrola, the company's goal is to more than double its wind power capacity in the U.S., where at the end of the first quarter of 2008 it had almost 2,400 MW of power and plans to finish the year with 3,600 MW.
In addition, Galan says that Iberdrola hoped to reach a quota of 15% of growth in the wind power market in North America by 2010.
