HYTORC Rolls Out Lightweight, Portable Torque Gun

HYTORC, a manufacturer of industrial bolting systems for industries including wind power, has unveiled its first consumer product, the LION-.25, a lithium-ion, battery-powered torque gun.

According to HYTORC, the portable, 7-lb. product has no attachments to hoses, cords or compressors. Notably, it is also free of loud noise and high vibrations.

Also referred to as the “LION Gun,” the precision bolting system features built-in data recording. Users set the desired torque output on the LION’s display and pull the trigger to get fast, precise and repeatable torque. After tightening, the LION automatically releases for fast movement from nut to nut.

Once the bolting application is complete, the LION Gun can be connected to a computer or tablet to export the recorded data into an Excel-friendly format for reporting, storage or additional analysis.

HYTORC says the LION Gun is suitable for wind power and other utility industries, as well as aerospace, agriculture, aviation, marine, military, railroads and transportation. Specifically, it is designed for applications using bolts 3/8-inch to ¾-inch in diameter and requiring 25 ft./lbs. to 250 ft./lbs. of torque.

“The company that brought the highest level of bolting technology to the assembly of the spire on the Freedom Tower is now offering a unique tool for smaller businesses and individual consumers,” says Eric Junkers, president of the company. “The LION-.25 is easy to use and will also save time, improve torque accuracy and raise the level of safety.”
