HORIBA, Ricardo Collaborate On New Drivetrain Test System

0

HORIBA and Ricardo PLC will collaborate on the first phase of an engineering design contract for an open-access offshore wind turbine test facility being developed by the Energy Technology Institute.

The new drivetrain test rig will be designed for testing the next generation of higher-power wind turbines. The test rig is expected to be built at the New and Renewable Energy Center (NaREC) test facility in Northumberland, England.

Co-located with NaREC's existing renewables testing facilities, the offshore wind nacelle drivetrain test rig is expected to be able to test wind turbine drivetrains or nacelles with input powers of up to 15 MW each.
