Milford, N.H.-based Hendrix Wire & Cable, a provider of underground and overhead distribution products, has released the DUAL BLOCK, which provides a dual water-blocking capability on Hendrix's primary underground cable.
Hendrix's DUAL BLOCK helps prevent water from entering the cable core, which can lead to premature failure, according to the company.
A fill compound is continuously applied into the conductor interstices to prevent longitudinal water migration. In addition, a water-swellable powder is applied under the polyethylene jacket in order to prevent water from migrating along the neutral wires, under the jacket. These two applications provide a barrier that prevents water from entering the cable core, according to Hendrix.
