Hansen Transmissions International, a global wind turbine gearbox designer, manufacturer and supplier, has appointed Bernard Moerman as chief legal officer and company secretary. He joins as a member of the senior management committee and will report directly to CEO Ivan Brems.
Moerman joins Hansen from Linklaters, where he was a partner. While there, he advised on both the independent public offering of Hansen and the Suzlon acquisition of the company. At Linklaters, he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, including private equity transactions, corporate restructuring, joint ventures and company law advisory work.
Following his studies at the University of Ghent and the New York University Law School, Moerman was admitted to the New York Bar and the Brussels Bar.
‘Since our listing, we have a growing need for the in-house legal expertise [Moerman] brings to the management committee,’ says Brems. ‘In addition, with the accelerated pace at which Hansen is continuing to grow, we saw the need to expand our legal department and other corporate services to deal with the increased level of activity in the company.’
