China has increased its on-grid wind power capacity by 87% annually over the last six years, and the country's grid-connected wind energy capacity will reach 100 GW by 2015 and 200 GW by 2020, according to a report from Bloomberg that cited Chinese news agency Xinhua.
According to Xinhua, which wrote the report based on data from the Chinese grid operators, China has linked 50.26 GW of wind energy capacity to its grid as of this year.
A lack of transmission links has hindered China from reaching its full wind power capacity potential. Despite this setback, however, China still led the world in installed wind energy capacity in 2011.
