GPCo Inc., a renewable energy consulting firm with offices in Montreal and Salt Lake City, has launched its new database for improved management of the meteorological data collected from its clients' towers this month.
The database project was initiated in 2008 in order to respond to growing demand from clients for easy accessibility to their met-tower data and analysis results. The database manages the information of virtually all the met masts currently in operation for GPCo's clients, according to the company.
The database offers a private client log-in, data-storage optimization and efficient data processing, GPCo adds.
‘Given the large amount of centralized data, the database will also allow GPCo to perform valuable statistical analyses in the future, hence improving their scientific and technical know-how through R&D projects,’ says Benjamin Kandel, GPCo's scientific director.
The following services will be available to GPCo's clients:
– complete and secure Web access to their met tower data,
– direct download of raw data, and
– access to quality-control information and validated data for each tower.
