General Cable Introduces EmPowr Link CL Medium-Voltage Cable

0

General Cable has introduced the EmPowr Link CL medium-voltage cable, a renewable energy collection system that features the company's redesign of the concentric neutrals, resulting in reduced copper use, according to the company.

The cable uses a cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable jacketing in order to provide better efficiency over the life of the cable through cooler operation, lower line loss and greater resistance to deformation, according to the company.

In addition, the cable uses 25% less copper in the concentric neutrals. This has been achieved by the XLPE jacket's higher transient temperature of 350 degrees C, compared to 200 degrees C for LLDPE, the company says.
