Mukwonago, Wis.-based service provider Gearbox Express says its new product combines upgrades and a new thought process for wind energy gearboxes from 1.5 MW to 2.3 MW.
According to Gearbox Express, the Revolution gearbox addresses the most common premature failure modes of gearboxes.
‘The Gearbox Express team has seen many gearbox failures, and a majority of them have the same premature failure characteristics,’ says Bruce Neumiller, CEO of Gearbox Express. ‘We saw a huge opportunity to address these common reasons by integrating upgrades that will provide significantly longer gearbox life.’
Revolution gearboxes are built in Gearbox Express' 43,000-square-foot facility in Mukwonago, which features a 3.1 MW test stand. In addition to the Revolution, technicians also remanufacture gearboxes to the latest revision level, the company notes.
