GE Wins Another Deal In Australian Wind Market

GE Renewable Energy has announced an agreement with Global Power Generation (GPG) Australia to supply and install wind turbines for the 91 MW Crookwell 2 Wind Farm, located near Goulburn, New South Wales (NSW), Australia.

GE will install 28 3.4 MW turbines with 130-meter rotors. Once operational, the wind farm will produce more than 300,000 MWh during the average year, says GE. It will be the first wind farm in Australia for GPG.

Due to be completed in September 2018, Crookwell 2 will make a significant contribution to the Australian Capital Territory’s (ACT) commitment to source 100% of its electricity from renewable sources, notes GE. The ACT government previously awarded GPG with a feed-in tariff entitlement for the development.

GE says this announcement comes after similar agreements for large-scale projects in Silverton, NSW, and Ararat, Victoria.

“We are thrilled to be working alongside GE and local contractors on a project that will significantly contribute to the energy transition underway in the Australian Capital Territory and throughout Australia,” comments Lluis Noguera, CEO of GPG.
