GE Drivetrain Technologies, a division of GE Transportation, has announced the development of the IntegraDrive, a new system engineered to take the wind energy industry to a new level.
IntegraDrive integrates GE Drivetrain Technologies' proven planetary gearing and medium-speed generator technologies into one system. The product is an integrated geared generator that is lighter and more compact than conventional three-stage gearbox generator systems and – with fewer gears and bearings – is both more reliable and more efficient, according to the company.
‘Advanced drivetrain technologies – like the IntegraDrive – make good sense for the new class of larger wind turbines being developed today because of their potential to produce more compact and reliable drives,’ says Prescott Logan, product line leader for GE Drivetrain Technologies. ‘Our global service network is already in place, and we are expanding our production capacity within our existing facilities and in new facilities to meet the global demand for the GE product.’
