Gamesa’s G114-2.0 Achieves Eco-Design Certification

0

Gamesa says its G114-2.0 MW turbine platform has received eco-design certification from TUV Rheinland, signifying that the turbine platform will have a reduced impact on the environment throughout its lifecycle.

Gamesa notes that the eco-design certification improves a product not only from an environmental standpoint, but also from an efficiency and cost perspective.

With a rotor spanning 114 meters, the turbine's swept area is 38% greater than that of the G97-2.0 MW and produces 20% more energy per year. Gamesa has already installed G114-2.0 MW prototypes in Texas and Spain. Between them, they have generated 4.25 GWh of electricity since they were commissioned at the start of this year.

This is the second Gamesa turbine to achieve the certification; its G128-4.5 MW turbine was certified in June 2012, becoming the first turbine in the world to receive the designation.
