Fugro Renewables says it is planning to launch a new vessel – the M/V Fugro Pioneer – that is targeted for the European offshore wind industry. The vessel, part of Fugro's Offshore Survey Coastal Vessel series, will operate in northwestern European waters beginning in the first quarter of 2013.
The new 1300 GT Pioneer will be able to carry out the full range of site and route survey tasks to obtain the high-resolution data necessary for safe, efficient and cost-effective planning, design and engineering activities for the installation of wind turbines, as well as pipelines, platforms, manifolds and other seabed structures, Fugro explains, adding that the vessel is capable of carrying a 60 T deck load and has a full range of cranes and winches, as well as two moonpools.
The vessel will also include facilities for light geotechnical investigations (Vibrocores, CPT) and will be dynamic positioned capable, Fugro adds.
