Pat Wood III has joined First Wind's board of directors. Wood served as chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) from 2001 to 2005. He was also chairman of the Public Utility Commission of Texas from 1995 to 2001, and is actively involved with a number of private companies and projects to increase clean power generation, independent power transmission and natural-gas facilities.
Wood is a member of the National Petroleum Council and is on the Board of the American Council on Renewable Energy. Until January 2008, he led the North American advisory board of Airtricity.
Wood is a principal of Wood3 Resources. He has worked as an assistant project engineer for Arco International in Indonesia and as an attorney at the Washington, D.C., offices of law firm Baker & Botts.
