First Wind has named Michael Witzing senior vice president of operations. In his new role, Witzing will be responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance of First Wind's operating projects.
Witzing has a strong background in the engineering, construction and operation of large power generation projects. Prior to joining First Wind, he was most recently at GenPower Services LLC, where he was responsible for the management of the engineering and construction of power generation projects.
He was also involved in the strategic planning of project development and execution activities, and the technical and financial due diligence for potential asset acquisitions, including wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and natural-gas-fired projects.
Prior to GenPower, Witzing worked for 10 years at LS Power Development LLC, where he was responsible for managing the engineering, construction and operation of a number of fossil-fuel-fired power generation projects.
